When you joyfully welcome your furry little baby at home, it becomes the warmest companion in your life. Watching the dog running around happily at home every day, wagging its tail incessantly, that look is incredibly cute. But if you suddenly notice that the dog keeps scratching you, and when you get closer, there are tiny fleas hidden in its fur, you will instantly feel heartbroken and worried. These despicable fleas not only make dogs feel uncomfortable, but may also endanger their health. As a owner, who wouldn't be anxious? So, when a dog grows fleas, how can we effectively remove them?

1、 Understand the harm caused by fleas

Although fleas are small, their harm should not be underestimated. Fleas parasitize dogs and use sharp mouthparts to pierce their skin and feed on their blood. This not only causes unbearable itching and scratching of the dog's skin, leading to skin damage and hair loss, but may also trigger skin inflammation. Long term flea bites may cause anemia symptoms, mental fatigue, and loss of appetite in dogs. Once lively, they may become lethargic, which can be seen and felt in the owner's heart. Moreover, fleas may also carry various bacteria and parasites, such as tapeworms. Once a dog accidentally eats fleas while licking its skin, it may be infected with tapeworm disease, further damaging the dog's health.

2、 Common methods for removing fleas

(1) Use insect repellent

External deworming drops: This is a common and effective method of deworming. Dripping deworming medication onto the neck, scapula, and other areas of the dog where fleas tend to gather will allow the medication to penetrate the sebaceous glands through the skin and exert its effects throughout the body. When using, pay attention to selecting the appropriate dosage according to the dog's weight and strictly follow the instructions. For example, insect repellent drops from brands such as Fulian and Baichong Shuang have good effects and can quickly and effectively kill fleas. Every time I see my dog being tormented by fleas, the owner carefully drips deworming medicine on it, eagerly hoping to help it get rid of the flea troubles.

Oral deworming medication: Oral deworming medication can have an effect on fleas in dogs. Some oral medications containing ingredients such as fipronil and imidacloprid can form a deworming barrier in dogs, and fleas will be killed after feeding on their blood. However, oral medication may have some side effects, so it is important to consult a veterinarian before use and strictly follow the doctor's instructions for feeding. When a dog develops fleas, the owner, under the guidance of a veterinarian, patiently feeds medicine to the dog in order to help it recover as soon as possible. Watching the dog take the medicine, the owner silently prays for its speedy recovery.

(2) Bath cleaning

Use pet specific shower gel: Choose a pet shower gel containing flea removing ingredients, such as products containing chlorpyrifos, pyrethroids, and other ingredients. When bathing, first wet the dog through, then apply the bath gel, gently rub it, and let the foam stay on the dog for 5-10 minutes, so that the flea removal effect can be better played. Pay special attention to the parts of the dog's abdomen, legs, tail, and other areas that are prone to flea infestations. Every time I give my dog a bath, the owner seems to be fighting against fleas, hoping that through this warm water flow and effective shower gel, they can wash away the annoying fleas.

Combing hair: Before and after taking a bath, using a fine comb to comb the dog's hair can remove fleas and flea eggs. While combing, use a wet tissue or cotton ball to stick away the fleas and eggs that have been combed, to prevent them from returning to the dog again. During the grooming process, the owner can speak gently to the dog, soothing its emotions, and the dog will cooperate obediently, as if knowing that the owner is helping it solve problems.

(3) Environmental cleaning and disinfection

Clean living environment: Flea eggs and larvae will hide in dog beds, carpets, sofas, and other living areas. Regularly clean the dog bed bedding, expose the dog bed to sunlight, and high temperatures can kill fleas and their eggs. At the same time, use a vacuum cleaner to thoroughly clean corners, floor crevices, sofa bottoms, and other areas of the home, sucking away fleas and their eggs. Every time the owner cleans, it feels like they are conducting a thorough cleaning, not leaving any corner where fleas may be hiding, just to create a clean and comfortable living environment for the dog.

Use insecticides: Pet specific insecticides can be sprayed on indoor environments while ensuring that dogs are not at home. Focus on spraying in corners, crevices, furniture bottoms, and other places where fleas are easy to hide. After spraying, close the doors and windows for a period of time to allow the insecticide to fully exert its effect. Afterwards, thoroughly ventilate and let the dog go home after the odor has dissipated. For the health of the dog, the owner will carefully choose insecticides and strictly follow the instructions for use, hoping to eliminate fleas in the house in one fell swoop.

3、 Daily preventive measures

Develop the habit of regularly deworming dogs outside the body, usually recommended once a month. Regular deworming is like putting an invisible protective suit on a dog, which can effectively prevent flea infestation. Watching the dog play healthily and happily, the owner will also feel immensely gratified, knowing that their careful care is protecting the dog.

Regularly clean the home, keep the indoor environment dry and ventilated, and reduce the breeding environment for fleas. Regularly clean your dog's toys, utensils, and other items to ensure that they live in a clean and tidy environment. Every time the owner cleans diligently, it is a deep love for the dog, hoping that the dog can grow strong in this loving environment.
