Puppyhood is a critical stage in the growth of dogs. Scientific and reasonable training can not only help them develop good behavioral habits, but also build a bridge of communication between us and dogs and forge a deep emotional bond.

So, when is the best time to start training puppies? Generally speaking, puppies are in the golden period of training when they are 8 to 16 weeks old. Puppies at this stage are like a blank sheet of paper, full of curiosity about the world, and have strong learning and adaptability. They are like sponges, eager to absorb new knowledge and full of enthusiasm for the owner's instructions. When puppies leave their mothers and siblings and come to a new family and face a brand new environment, it is the perfect time to start training. Training at this time can help puppies adapt to family life faster, understand the owner's intentions, and establish a sense of rules.

In terms of training content, the most basic is the training of living habits. It is the top priority for every owner to let puppies learn to urinate and defecate at a fixed point. Prepare a special defecation area for puppies and lay out pee pads or newspapers. When puppies show defecation signals such as turning in circles or sniffing the ground, immediately guide them to the designated area. Once puppies defecate in the right place, give them praise and rewards in time, such as snacks, petting or gentle praise. Through repeated reinforcement, puppies will gradually understand where to defecate is the correct behavior. In this process, you will see that the puppies try to understand your intentions and try to follow your guidance. Their cute and serious appearance makes people laugh.

Social training is also important for the growth of puppies. Exposing puppies to different people and things in their early years can help them develop self-confidence and avoid behavioral problems such as fear and aggression when they grow up. You can take puppies to parks, pet stores and other places to let them come into contact with different people and animals. During the contact process, pay attention to the emotions of the puppies to ensure their safety. When puppies show friendly and curious behavior, give encouragement and praise. Every successful social interaction can make puppies more cheerful and confident.

Command training is an important part of puppy training. Start with simple commands such as "sit", "wait", and "come", and gradually cultivate the puppy's obedience. Take the "sit" training as an example. Take out the snacks that the puppy likes and shake them in front of it to attract its attention. Then, slowly move the snacks from above the puppy's nose to behind the top of the head. In order to track the snacks, the puppy's body center of gravity will move backwards, and its buttocks will naturally land on the ground to complete the "sit" action. At the moment the puppy sits down, clearly issue the "sit" command and give snacks as a reward. Through constant repetition, the puppy will associate the command with the action and form a conditioned reflex.

In the training process, patience and the right method are essential. Puppies have a short attention span and are easily distracted, so the training time should not be too long. 5 to 10 minutes each time, and multiple training per day. When the puppy performs well, give rewards and praise in time; when the puppies make mistakes, do not punish them, but guide them to correct them in a gentle way. Punishment will only make the puppies feel fear and confusion, and destroy the trust between you.

Puppy training is not just about teaching them a few moves, but also a process of mutual understanding and companionship. In this process, we witness the growth of puppies, from ignorant little guys to obedient and sensible partners. Puppies bring us endless joy and warmth with their innocence and enthusiasm. And we use patience and love to guide them in the direction of growth. Let us cherish every moment with the puppies, use scientific training methods, accompany them to grow healthily, and create more beautiful memories together. In the days to come, no matter the wind and rain, they will be by our side and become our most loyal partners.
